Welcome to the Transform Leatherhead public exhibition illustrating the proposals for the redevelopment of Claire House and James House in Bridge Street.

We are delighted to announce that we intend to submit an outline planning application later this year for Claire House and James House, the first site in the Transform Leatherhead Masterplan.

We wish to share with you our developing proposals prior to submission to Mole Valley District Council. The public consultation presented visitors with the opportunity to understand the proposals for the site and to provide the project team with comments.

The initial feedback period on this stage has now closed.

The outline planning application, on which we have been consulting, seeks to establish the principles of development for the site such as the proposed uses, the number of residential units, site access arrangements and the height of the proposals. The external appearance of the proposals will be developed as part of a subsequent detailed planning application, and you will have a further chance to comment on this aspect of the scheme.

The Site

Claire House and James House are two office buildings located at the corner of Bridge Street and opposite the entrance to Minchin Close.

The site benefits from a fantastic south-facing outlook, fronting onto the River Mole and Leatherhead Bridge. The site is located on the southern edge of the town centre, close to Leatherhead’s amenities, services and public transport connections. The site also comprises Bridge Street pay and display car park. Mole Valley District Council purchased the Claire House and James House site in 2015 as part of its then emerging strategy to transform Leatherhead town centre.

The Transform Leatherhead team recognised that the site formed a unique opportunity for an exciting high-quality mixed use development, with the potential to unlock an underused area of natural beauty and create an attractive riverside leisure destination.
